We’ve pulled together some must-visit, pet friendly accommodation, spanning Bells Beach, Tower Hill, Pennyroyal, Portland, Lorne and Aireys Inlet. Bells By The Beach

Located just 100m from Ocean Grove’s best beach, this pet-friendly accommodation is perfect for a family getaway. The house is spacious and sleeps up to 6 guests. The three bedrooms have queen and single beds with quilts and donnas provided. 

Bells By The Beach is primed with everything you need for an easy and relaxing stay, from a self-catering kitchen, TV and DVD player, air-con, gas log fire and super comfy sofas. The bathroom, with walk-in shower is very accessible, making it appropriate for all ages. You can enjoy entertaining with the outdoor BBQ and table setting, while your kids play in the large yard.

Bells By The Beach welcomes pets inside and outside the property. The garden is fully fenced and even houses an outdoor shower to wash them off after a swim. Pet beds are provided. The beach is only 100m away and is 100% dog-friendly. The accommodation is also conveniently located 2km away from the main shopping area and Ocean Grove Market Place. 

 

Harmony At Tower Hill

Harmony at Tower Hill is a perfect pit-stop for your Great Ocean Road adventures and is located close to Port Fairy and Warrnambool. It is nestled on the perimeter of Tower Hill Nature Reserve; with fantastic views of historic parkland (including a dormant volcano!) and the Southern Ocean. 

You can choose from a range of stylish, spacious units. Each contemporary unit includes a fully equipped kitchen, king-size beds, gorgeous pebbled shower recesses and outdoor decks.  You can make the most of the serene surroundings with a large entertainment area, featuring a BBQ and open fire. Harmony at Tower Hill welcome fur-babies of all shapes and sizes, and have even played post to the Maremma dogs who starred in the film ‘Oddball’. You may like to enjoy a walk or run through the property’s orchard, spanning over 2 acres, or go exploring in Town Hill Nature Reserve to spot kangaroos, emus and koalas. The surrounding towns of Port Fairy, Warrnambool and Koroit have lots of pet-friendly cafes and beaches on offer too.

 

Henty Bay Beachfront Holiday Park

Portland is a must-visit on any Great Ocean Road getaway. Renowned for outdoor adventure, deep-sea fishing and plentiful bush trails like the Great South West Walk, it’s also known for sights like the The Blowholes, Cape Nelson Lighthouse and Tarragal Limestone Caves. Aireys Inlet is the gateway to the Great Ocean Road and blends a relaxed village atmosphere with a rugged, dramatic coastline. The holiday park is easy walking distance to beaches, art galleries, shops, restaurants and cozy brewery, and you can’t miss the spectacular cliff-top walk to the renowned Split Point Lighthouse. ‘Round The Twist’ fans will love it! The seaside haven of Aireys Inlet gives you the best of the Great Ocean Road, with activities ranging from swimming, surfing and fishing, to horse riding and mountain biking.

Country Wide Cottages

Located just 90 minutes out of Melbourne and 25 minutes inland from Lorne and the Great Ocean Road, this pet-friendly accommodation is the perfect base for exploring. Soak up the serenity of the surrounding bush and your privately fenced cottage. Each CountryWide Cottages accommodation has an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area, complete with heating, cooling and cozy wood heaters. The Igloo cottage is specifically built for wheelchair access. Each cottage has a private wood BBQ, picnic table (with picnic set) and camp fire.

Bush walks start directly from your front door, where you can stroll from your accommodation right into the Otway Forest Park. Aireys Pub

After a long day exploring or hitting the surf, Aireys Pub is the perfect pit-stop. Known for their gourmet pub food and house beer tasting paddles, you can be assured of a fresh and delicious feed. This iconic coastal venue features three huge dining spaces, a beer-garden and a stage frequented by local musicians. Dogs are also allowed outdoors in the beer-garden. 

For lunch, there’s plenty of classic pub favourites, thrown together with contemporary flair. The grilled barramundi is local and sustainably farmed, the mixed beans and roast pumpkin quesadilla is cooked in tequila and ink stout and the artichoke heart pizza features a delicious pesto sauce base. There’s also a kids’ menu with go-to’s like chicken tenders, spaghetti, pizza and fish & chips. Dinner ranges from small plates of pizza and smoked halloumi to mains like beef cheeks, chickpea and veggie tagine and slow-braised beef shin fettuccine. 

Salt Brewing Co is responsible for the variety of premium beers; crisp pilsners, pale ales, lagers and wheat beers. Plus, Aireys Pub boasts an extensive wine menu! They’re open every day, 11.30am until late.

 

Bahloo Portland

Bahloo Portland offers relaxed, alfresco dining by the beach. Perfect for fuelling a big day of exploring, they have an extensive lunch and breakfast menu. The bagel selection alone is worth the visit, with options like mediterranean grilled eggplant, capsicum and feta or scrambled egg, buffalo cheese and bacon. Everything feels super fresh and high-quality, whether you’re digging into the chia pudding breakfast bowl, eggs florentine or the ‘big Bahloo’ (complete with bacon beans, eggs, potato fritter and chorizo!)

For lunch, you can grab a brisket or ‘Memphis Meltdown’ burger, or keep it healthy with a lamb and haloumi salad or beet, pumpkin and buffalo cheese nourish bowl. There’s also plenty of sandwiches, toasties and a no-fuss kids menu, featuring mini burgers, pancakes, scrambled eggs or melts. 

Dogs are allowed at the outside tables, so you can sit with your pup and watch the waves. The wait-staff will happily provide water. Bahloo Portland are open 7.30am – 4.30pm daily.

Graze Urban Cafe

If you’re visiting Warrnambool, you have to stop by Graze Urban Cafe. This chic cafe and delicatessen is beloved by locals and your go-to for breakfast or lunch. They also have a selection of outdoor tables where your canine coffee connoisseur can feel right at home. 

The menu is stocked with homely, flavour-focused creations, with an emphasis on fresh, simple ingredients. For brekky, you can’t go past the crisp smoked bacon with poached eggs and sriracha mayo, the spanish eggs or the ‘bubble ’n’ squeak’. There’s no shortage of fresh and toasted sandwich options for lunch, with combos ranging from salami, black olive and swiss cheese to chicken breast, avo, tomato and pesto. You can also grab a steak ciabatta, slow-cooked beef brisket or a chicken burger on brioche. Graze are passionate about their coffee, and their signature blend is courtesy of Will & Co, with 100% Arabica beans from Guatemala and Brazil.

Graze are open Monday to Friday, 7am – 3.30pm and Saturdays 7am – 2.30pm.
